It was awesome. Bicycles are awesome. Strangers are awesome. When your parents said, "don't talk to strangers" they were wrong.

I had no money and I had the whole summer of 2011 to kill, so for two and a half months I just rode. I went from university in Manchester to my parents near Munich on my £30 bicycle passing through England, France and Spain (and France again) to Italy. I camped, couchsurfed and slept rough. I covered just under a thousand miles by bike (and I got the train or scabbed a ride for stretches too).
